Wax attempt
This weekend I'll be trying wax like from a candle, but if I can find beeswax at a local store I'm going to use that. I'm going to follow the same procedures I used in the Vaseline attempt. I will of course be posting pictures of the results and stuff, but I'm at school right now and I'll be home shortly I will try my best to get things done but I'm going out of town so I have to pack. I'm going to Palatka to spend Easter with my family it's gonna be a great time but I'm not going to be able to do my project there so I mean I'll try my best. If I get home early Sunday I'll be able to do it but if not which will probably be the case I'll complete it Monday afternoon. This is it for this afternoon but I'll blog again once I have it completed which should be by this weekend or the begining of next week.

Wait the Vaseline worked?
Okay so forget about what i said in the last post, because when i got home i tried the experiment one last time, and well it worked! The key is to rub a lot of Vaseline instead of just spreading it all over the paper. I don't have time to get into detail about every picture because i have to leave for diving soon, but before i left i wanted to get these pictures up.
Spring break reminiscing
I have completed the experiment of using Vaseline to waterproof the paper. Yea it didn't go to hot I have the pictures at home so either later this afternoon or tonight when I get home I will post those pictures on a separate blog. I'm using notebook paper, because it shows how well the paper is waterproof because of the blue and red ink that is used for the lines on the paper. If the notebook paper gets wet the ink will smear and it becomes a complete mess. The Vaseline didn't work to waterproof at all. I only did this because of my classmate Alex who gave the suggestion. My next attempt will be to use beeswax and I'm hoping it will work. I was exploring on Instagram when I saw a picture that said how to waterproof your shoes, and I read the link attached to it and it said to rub beeswax all over the shoe so hey it's worth a try. Once I get home and post the pictures I'll talk more about how the experiment with the Vaseline went but I want you to be able to see what I'm talking about so I'll wait.

rededicating myself
Im sorry i haven't posted in forever it feels like its just that this project has gone down hill quick. First off i don't know what to blog about, second i honestly haven't done anything. I could lie and tell you that i have made a lot of progress, but that is not the case. I also could say that i don't have time but that's not an excuse, because i have all week to make time for this project. I really need help on what to blog about so i would appreciate it if i could get some advice, because i honestly haven't posted for that reason. if you want to know how much progress i've made well i still haven't ordered the pen, yea i know its sad. I almost gave upon this project, but i really want to dedicate my self to finishing it and keeping up with it. I think sometime next week i'm going to try out the vaseline idea which will be my first attempt at waterproofing paper. If you want me to be honest i think this attempt is going to be a complete bust i have no hope whats so ever for vaseline to be the solution. If you want to see my other ideas on how i plan on waterproofing paper you can look in my previous blogs. Some other information is in the previous blogs so go check those out. Anyways moving on, i have the most hope for sucess in the acrylic spray, because if im not mistaken acrylic is involved in the making of whiteboards and i know those are waterproof. This is the point in my blogs where i don't know what to say and where i need your help so please i need feedback on how to make these more interesting and even a little bit longer. I will be back for sure with the new dedicated Chase Lane next week with something hopefully to talk about (vaseline attempt) i will post some pictures of the procedures i took and describe what is going on in the picture so hopefully you can get a feeling of how and what i did. Catch you back next week but for now peace out.

Research 2
So
honestly the past two weeks I was gone out of the town. The first week I was in
Daytona for my sisters cheerleading competition and the second week I was in Atlanta
also for my sister. Anyways I got another suggestion for a method to waterproof
paper from a classmate today, his theory was to use Vaseline. I’m not positive
it will work very well, but I’m willing to try. One of the important things I
was able to research was what type of ink I need to use in order to write on
the paper. My research led me not able to find the certain ink but I did find
pens that are categorized as waterproof pens. So I’m looking to buy one so I’m
able to complete my project, but the issue is they are quite expensive. Tomorrow
I will find the pen I will buy (probably the cheapest) and let you know the
details about. Lastly I promise this time I will follow up on this.

research 1
I finished my research, and I'm left with three choices. these three choices are to either use acrylic, lacquer spray, or use candle wax. if i use acrylic i'm not sure i will be able to write on it with led or ink so that's probably going to be my last resort. So i'm left with lacquer spray and the candle wax. I think using the spray would be much faster than using candle wax so lacquer spray is my first choice ,and if that doesn't work then i will use the wax. I also researched the different types of pens you can use on the paper there are several but i haven't been able to desifer what the ink type is so i'll have to write another blog tomorrow on what the ink is.

Proposal
Sorry
it’s so late but here is my proposal. In the first part of the proposal I had
to write about what is the need for waterproof paper and how it would solve the
problem. In it I also had to include who would be interested in potentially
buying it or just using it. I put down the judges and officials at my swimming
and diving meets. The first thing in the second picture is a timeline for the
deliverables I will be getting on certain days such as January 30th when I will
have all of my research done. Also included on the second picture is what the finished
product will be, and how I will present it to an audience. Lastly in the
proposal is me talking about the supplies I will need and my conclusion on why
I’m fired up about this project.

Starting over at the proposal
This
was the first day i worked on my new 20% project, which is waterproof paper. If
you read my about me post it will explain why I am making waterproof paper, and
talk about the people i want to be able to benefit from this project, so read
that when you get the chance. Anyways today i started my proposal that will be
approved by my teacher so i am able to go through with the project. Tomorrow I plan
on finishing it and i will post a picture of it so you'll be able to look over
it and get an idea for what I’m going for. I will have to get a 45% out of 50%
in order to go through with it so I’m trying to really make it the best it can
be. It may not be approved the first time so I may have to redo it in order to
get it passed which will but if that’s what it takes then I’ll just have to
deal with it. Tomorrow ill post again and I’ll make sure I include a picture of
my proposal and you can tell me what you think.
About me and the project
Originally I had a blog for my other 20% project which
was a beach bag. That project fell apart so now I will be blogging on this page
for now on. This 20% project i am now blogging about is going to be about my
progress and obstacles I will be facing while making waterproof paper. I am
making waterproof paper to benefit the judges, and officials at my diving
meets. I have noticed an issue and I want to fix it with this paper. The issue
is that the paper the judges right on and keep track of the meet with are
getting wet and the ink is spreading, and making the writing hard to read. Yes,
they could just put those paper laminating folders over the paper, and could
just laminate them, but there is a problem with that. The problem with those
solutions is that you can't write on the paper if you were to do those two
things. There is also a problem with the waterproof paper I might discover
though, I hypothesize that not all inks are going to work with the paper so I’m
going to have to do some research about the different types of inks. All in all
I think this is going to be a fun project, and I would like to introduce it to
the judges, and the officials at meets, and see what their reaction is which will
hopefully be encouraging. My ultimate goal for this waterproof paper is to get
it involved in all of the meets I go to, and compete in. I hope you enjoy my
post in the future, and the obstacles I may face or the major progress I have
made. I may post pictures to keep you updated also just to give you a visual
reference on what is have accomplished.
